Beyond Behaviour offers a range of courses covering classroom management, Behaviour Wall, wellbeing/social, emotional and mental health needs, staff wellbeing, support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs, and leadership. ‘Onlineinset: A unique online behaviour module tailored to the way you learn’

  • For: teachers; teaching assistants/HLTAs; SENCos, mentors, pastoral staff
  • What: 12-16hrs personalised, online training covering key aspects of understanding and responding to behaviour
  • When: Participants enroll at any point in the year and progress at their own pace

‘Another brick in the Wall’

A day to explore how the Behaviour Wall can help problem solve troubling behaviour(s) and promote greater consistency of behaviour management across the school. Find out what developmental gaps can create troubling behaviour – and how to support behavioural change in sustainable ways.

Wellbeing/social, emotional and mental health needs

Supporting and developing the emotional and social wellbeing of the whole school community. Co-facilitated with Anita Devi. The day will look at practical ways to improve the wellbeing of pupils and staff. Previous participants described it as ‘a fantastic day’ with ‘lots of ideas to take back to school.’

Leadership ‘HeadSpace’ – CPD and support for headteachers with a difference

HeadSpace provides time out for school leaders to reflect, refresh and re-create. This one day session will explore ideas related to values-based leadership and developing the interpersonal dimensions of leadership. Material will include managing the tensions that the Standards Agenda and OFSTED present; understanding, managing and leading individuals and teams and moving from ‘surviving to thriving’.Ideas will be drawn from, amongst other sources, Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits, transactional analysis and solution focused thinking.

Leadership ‘Leadership Re-Group’ – in conjunction with Peterborough Learning Partnership:

Similar in content to ‘HeadSpace’, this day is open to leaders at all levels in a school. It offers them time out to recharge their batteries and enhance their interpersonal leadership skills.

Leadership ‘Growing the Leader Within’ – in conjunction with Peterborough Learning Partnership:

Specifically for those who are new to or have recently been appointed to middle or senior leadership roles. The focus here will be on: ** Structures and strategies for managing ‘The Difficult Conversation’ ** Considering how to effectively balance Support, Challenge and Empowerment when leading others ** Developing a greater awareness of their own personal drivers and how these enhance their working styles and can also create difficulties

There will also be time for participants to problem solve current challenges they might be facing.

**Social, Emotional and Mental Health Difficulties: A Practical and Optimistic Approach – in conjunction with Peterborough Learning Partnership:

This comprehensive programme will contain several strands: a) Developing participants’ knowledge and understanding of some of the main social, emotional and mental health difficulties pupils present with. This will include: • low/very low self-esteem • attachment difficulties • anxiety • grief and loss • self-harm Each aspect covered will include exploring additional strategies to be tried back at school. b) Group supervision: an opportunity for group members to gain a ‘super-vision’ of a specific challenge they are experiencing in relation to their work. c) Honing of practical skills including: effective 1:1 work (eg active listening, feedback etc); groupwork (eg group dynamics)
